BVSc - Bachelor of Veterinary Science

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) is an undergraduate program that equips students with the knowledge and skills to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses in animals, encompassing both domestic pets and livestock. It integrates theoretical learning with practical experience to prepare graduates for careers in veterinary medicine.

ABOUT

  • Duration : 5.5 years (4.5 years academic + 1 year internship)
  • Eligibility : 

                      Must qualify NEET-UG (Since 2023, NEET is mandatory for Veterinary admission)

                      Must have passed 10+2 with BiPC(Biology, Physics, Chemistry)

                     Minimum Marks :

                               50% for General/EWS

                               45% fro PWD

                               40% for OBC/SC/ST

  • Counselling Authority : Veterinary Council of India (VCI)
  • Career Scope : After completing BVSc, graduates can pursue further specialization through postgraduate studies such as Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in specialized area such as :

                        Veterinary Medicine

                        Veterinary Surgery

                        Veterinary Pathology

                        Veterinary Microbiology

                        Veterinary Pharmacology

                        Veterinary Public Health

                        Animal Genetics and Breeding

  • National Level (All India Quota - AIQ) : 15% Seats
  • Conducted by Veterinary Council of India (VCI) via NEET
  • Participating Colleges : Approximates 47 recognized veterinary Colleges across India
  • Centralized Counselling (based on NEET-UG)

  • State Quota :  85% Seats
  • Managed by State Veterinary Universities or Counselling Boards
  • Domicile required for state quota
  • NEET-UG score is still used for merit
